Gail Flockhart

Managing Director, Caudex Medical

Gail is a pharmacologist with over 20 years of industry and agency experience in a variety of roles, including research, sales, marketing and strategic product development. Her industry experience at Merck included the launch of Zocor^® in the UK. While at Allergan, in her role as Pharmaceutical Director, she was responsible for the pan-European launch of Alphagan^® in glaucoma and for new product development in Europe.

Since moving to the medical communications sector in 1997, Gail has worked globally with a variety of clients including GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Roche and Pfizer.

She has managed large and diverse global accounts, with deliverables ranging from strategic communication plans through to sales support tools for local adaptation.

Gail moved to the USA in 2001 to establish a presence for the global medical communications business in McCann Healthcare. She assumed responsibility as CEO of the US medical education agency network in McCann Healthcare, managing several offices located in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California. In 2004, the McCann Healthcare medical communications business was strategically aligned under two global brands and Gail returned to the UK to assume the leadership of one of these, Caudex Medical.

Tina Kohnstam

Global Medical Director, Caudex Medical

Tina is a qualified physician and gained her medical degree at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the University of London. She worked in a variety of posts as a junior hospital doctor in London and Scotland before spending several years working as a general practitioner in the UK National Health Service. After a total of 9 years in clinical practice, she moved to medical communications in 1994.

With over 14 years of experience in medical communications, Tina has gained experience of a wide variety of projects in a range of therapy areas. Her work has included National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) submissions, publication plans, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, congress abstracts, posters, meetings, advisory boards, preceptorship programmes, training programmes, educational slide kits and patient materials. Much of Tina’s recent work has been focused on providing strategic consultancy to clients, and she has developed considerable expertise in key opinion leader development and the delivery of CME-accredited educational programmes for European audiences.

Amanda Smith

Global Commercial Director, Caudex Medical

Amanda has a background in nursing, and over 20 years of industry and agency experience in a variety of commercial roles, encompassing sales, marketing and communications. Her industry experience at Merck Sharp & Dohme and Boehringer Ingelheim has included strategic roles in marketing for Actilyse^®, and in UK primary care marketing teams responsible for product marketing planning.

Moving to medical communications in 1990, Amanda has worked with European and globally based pharmaceutical clients, including GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Novartis, Merck Serono and Johnson & Johnson. She has strategically managed a broad portfolio of campaigns across different therapeutic areas using all aspects of medical communications, from strategy development through global-to-local implementation at both regional and local levels.
